WikiPartner:Deletion policy

WikiPartner may remove articles, files, templates, categories, or other pages that do not meet its rules.

Deletion should be based on clear reasons, not personal preference.

Reasons for Deletion

A page may be deleted when it:

• Contains false or misleading information
• Has no useful sources
• Is mainly promotional
• Copies copyrighted content
• Covers a fake person, company, product, or event
• Contains harmful claims without strong evidence
• Publishes private or sensitive information
• Has too little useful information
• Duplicates another page
• Was created only for spam
• Breaks WikiPartner policies or applicable law

Weak Articles

A weak article should not always be deleted immediately.

Editors may first:

• Add better sources
• Rewrite promotional wording
• Remove unsupported claims
• Merge it with another article
• Move it to a better title
• Ask for more information
• Add a warning or improvement notice

Deletion should be used when the page cannot be improved reasonably.

Living People

Pages about living people require extra care.

An article may be removed quickly when it contains:

• Serious unsourced claims
• Private personal information
• False accusations
• Harmful content with weak evidence
• Content that creates a clear safety risk

Copyright Problems

Copied content may be removed immediately.

Editors should not copy full articles from websites, books, news reports, or other encyclopedias unless the licence allows reuse and all licence conditions are followed.

A source may be used for facts, but its wording should normally be rewritten.

Duplicate Pages

When two pages cover the same subject, editors may:

• Merge the useful content
• Redirect one page to the other
• Keep the better title
• Delete the unnecessary duplicate

Deletion Requests

Editors and readers may request deletion by explaining:

• Which page should be reviewed
• Why it should be deleted
• Which policy applies
• Whether the page can be improved instead

A deletion request does not guarantee removal.

Immediate Deletion

Administrators may delete a page without a long discussion when it is clearly:

• Spam
• Vandalism
• A test page
• A duplicate created by mistake
• A copyright violation
• A page containing dangerous private information
• A fake or deceptive article
• An attack page

Deletion Review

For unclear cases, editors should review:

• The available sources
• The article history
• The subject’s real-world existence
• Whether the page can be corrected
• Whether important information would be lost
• Whether another policy applies

Restoring a Deleted Page

A deleted page may be restored when:

• Better sources become available
• The deletion decision was mistaken
• The article has been rewritten
• Copyright problems have been removed
• New information makes the subject suitable

Restoration does not guarantee that the page will remain published.

Administrator Responsibility

Administrators should:

• Give a clear deletion reason
• Avoid deleting pages because of personal disagreement
• Review sensitive cases carefully
• Keep private information out of public logs
• Restore pages when a deletion was clearly incorrect
