Template:Short description/doc

Short description adds a concise description identifying the subject of a WikiPartner article.

Place it at the very top of an article, immediately before the infobox.

The description is stored by WikiPartner's ShortDescription system and may be used by search, API, page-information, and other supported interface features. It does not replace the article lead.

Writing a short description

A short description should:

accurately identify the exact subject;
help distinguish similarly named subjects where useful;
be concise, factual, neutral, and natural;
normally be a short descriptive phrase;
avoid promotional wording and keyword stuffing;
contain no citations or unnecessary wikilinks;
not merely repeat the article title.

Placement

Place the template before the infobox:

Normally use only one short description per article.

Do not place article prose, references, headings, or other visible content before it.

Notes

The short description does not replace the lead.
Do not add a citation inside the template.
Do not add Wikidata identifiers or Wikidata-derived information.
Do not add a final period merely to turn a short phrase into a sentence.
Review the description if the article title or subject scope changes.
Descriptions must describe the exact article subject, not a broader related topic.
