Use this form to upload an image or other media file for use on WikiPartner.
Before uploading, make sure WikiPartner is legally permitted to host and use the file.
Do not upload a file unless you know its source and copyright or licensing status.
Before uploading
Please check that:
- The file is relevant to a WikiPartner article or project page.
- You know who created the file.
- You know where the file came from.
- You have identified its copyright or license status.
- The filename clearly describes the file.
- The file does not violate another person's copyright, privacy, or other legal rights.
Files with unclear source or licensing information may be removed.
File source
Always provide the original source of the file.
If you created the file yourself, clearly state:
Source: Own work Author: Your name or username
If the file came from another website or publication, provide:
- The original URL
- The name of the creator or copyright holder, if known
- The publication or website
- The applicable license or permission
Do not describe a file as "own work" unless you actually created it.
Copyright and licensing
Uploading a file to WikiPartner does not transfer copyright ownership.
You must only upload material that WikiPartner has permission to use.
Suitable files may include:
- Your own original work released under an appropriate license
- Public-domain material
- Material published under a compatible Creative Commons or other free license
- Material for which valid permission has been obtained
Do not upload copyrighted images simply because they are available on Google, social media, another website, or another encyclopedia.
Availability online does not mean a file is free to reuse.
Logos and promotional images
Company logos, organization logos, product images, portraits, promotional photographs, and similar material may be copyrighted.
Only upload these files when their use is legally permitted and the relevant source and licensing information has been provided.
If you are unsure whether WikiPartner can use a file, do not upload it until its copyright status has been reviewed.
Choose a good filename
Use a clear and descriptive filename.
For example:
NovaBridge Technologies logo.svg
is preferable to:
IMG_3847.png
Avoid misleading, meaningless, or unnecessarily long filenames.
File description
Provide enough information for another editor to understand the file.
Where appropriate, include:
Description: Source: Author: Date: License:
Do not leave important source or licensing information blank.
Using the uploaded file
After a file has been uploaded, you can add it to an article using:
[[File:Example.jpg|thumb|Caption]]
For an infobox, enter the uploaded filename into the appropriate image or logo field.
Example:
| image = Example.jpg
or:
| logo = Example.svg
Responsibility
The uploader is responsible for providing accurate source, authorship, copyright, and licensing information.
WikiPartner may remove files when:
- Copyright status cannot be established
- Licensing information is missing or misleading
- The file infringes copyright
- The file is unrelated to WikiPartner
- The file violates WikiPartner policies
- The file creates legal, privacy, or safety concerns
