WikiPartner is built collaboratively. Editors can improve existing articles by correcting facts, adding useful information, improving wording, adding sources, and fixing formatting.

All edits should follow WikiPartner's editorial policy, inclusion guidelines, and source guidelines.

Before you edit

Before making a change, make sure the information is accurate and supported by a reliable source when a source is needed.

Write in a neutral and factual way. Avoid advertising language, personal opinions, unsupported claims, and unnecessary promotion.

Do not remove well-sourced information simply because it is negative or unfavorable. If information is inaccurate, outdated, or poorly sourced, correct it using better evidence.

How to edit a page

To edit an article, select Edit this article from the Tools section.

Make your changes in the editor, review them carefully, and use the preview option when available before saving.

When saving an edit, add a short edit summary explaining what you changed.

WikiPartner uses MediaWiki wikitext.

Do not manually create a heading for the article title. WikiPartner displays the page title automatically.

Bold and italic text

Use bold and italic formatting only when it improves readability.

Internal links

Link to another WikiPartner article using double square brackets:

[[Example Article]]

To display different text:

[[Example Article|display text]]

For example:

Existing WikiPartner pages appear as normal internal links. Links to WikiPartner pages that have not yet been created may appear differently.

External links

External websites can be linked using:

[https://example.com Example website]

External links should normally be used as sources or when they provide useful supporting information. Avoid adding promotional or unnecessary external links.

Adding sources

Important facts should be supported by reliable sources.

Add a reference directly after the statement it supports:

The company was founded in 2020.<ref>Source information or source URL</ref>

At the bottom of the article, include:

== References ==

This displays the references used throughout the article.

Whenever possible, use independent and reliable sources rather than relying only on information published by the subject itself.

Using infoboxes

Some WikiPartner articles use an infobox near the top of the page. An infobox provides a short summary of important facts about the subject.

Only include information that is supported by reliable sources. Leave a field empty or remove it when reliable information is not available. Do not guess information simply to complete an infobox.

Person

Use Infobox person for an individual person.

Use born and died for reader-friendly dates and descriptions.

The birth_date and death_date fields are used for structured data. Use an ISO-style date such as 2000-05-21 only when the date is reliably known. Do not create an exact date when sources give only an approximate year.

The birth_place and death_place fields should contain reliably sourced locations.

The image_alt field should briefly describe the image for accessibility.

Leave fields empty when reliable information is unavailable. Do not guess personal information simply to complete an infobox.

Company

Use Infobox company for a commercial company or business.

Use factual descriptions for fields such as industry, headquarters, products, and services. Avoid promotional descriptions or unsupported claims.

Organization

Use Infobox organization for organizations, foundations, associations, institutions, projects, and other organized entities that are not best described as commercial companies.

The type field should briefly describe the organization, such as an online encyclopedia, nonprofit organization, professional association, research organization, or other appropriate type.

The purpose field should describe the main purpose of the organization in neutral language.

The headquarters field should contain the location associated with the organization's main headquarters when reliably known.

The area_served field may be used for a geographic area such as Worldwide, Pakistan, Europe, or another supported region.

The website field should contain the full official website URL, including https://.

Do not add founders, key people, parent organizations, subsidiaries, or other relationships unless reliable sources support them.

Website

Use Infobox website for websites, online platforms, and language editions of online projects.

Use language when the website primarily uses one language. Use languages instead when the website is available in multiple languages.

The url field should contain the full official website address, including https://.

The launched field should contain the public launch year or date when reliably known.

The current_status field may be used for a simple status such as Active or Inactive when supported by reliable information.

The registration field should briefly explain whether registration is required, optional, or unavailable when that information is relevant.

The content_license field may be used when the website publishes content under a clearly stated license.

Leave fields empty when reliable information is not available. Do not guess ownership, launch dates, founders, licensing, or other information.

Place

Use Infobox place for cities and other geographic places.

The type field describes the kind of place. Common values include City, Country, State, and Administrative area.

Use coordinates for the reader-friendly coordinate display.

The latitude and longitude fields are used for structured data. Use decimal coordinates when reliably known.

Population figures should include a date or year in population_as_of. Do not add an undated population figure when different administrative boundaries may produce different totals.

The website field should contain the official website for the place or its relevant government authority when appropriate.

Leave fields empty when reliable information is unavailable. Do not guess geographic or population data.

Writing style

Write clearly and directly.

Articles should describe the subject rather than promote it. Avoid phrases such as "leading company", "world-class", "best", "revolutionary", or similar claims unless the wording itself is directly relevant and properly attributed to a reliable source.

Prefer factual statements that readers can verify.

Creating links to missing articles

You may link to a relevant subject even when its WikiPartner article does not exist yet.

For example:

[[Example Technologies]]

A missing-page link helps identify subjects that may need their own article later. Creating a link does not automatically mean that the subject qualifies for an article.

Images and files

Files can be uploaded through Upload file.

Only upload files that WikiPartner is legally allowed to host. Provide accurate source, author, copyright, and licensing information when uploading a file.

To place an uploaded image in an article:

Corrections and problems

If you find inaccurate information and can correct it directly, edit the article and provide an appropriate source.

For problems that require editorial attention, use Report an issue.
